The application’s interface targeted informal communication, and allowed people to stay connected with friends and family. Until a few years ago, Zoom was primarily used as a messaging app for individuals. The ‘centerstage’ is taken by the participant who’s speaking, since Zoom app automatically detects audio from users. All the participants are displayed in thumbnails stacked at the top of the main window. Right at the bottom of the window, you can find multiple meeting controls, giving access to various functionalities. When you join or start a meeting, a pop-up window appears on the screen. There’s a dedicated ‘ Meetings’ tab, which gives information about scheduled and completed virtual meetings.

The program takes cue from leading platforms, and displays everything in large-sized icons.

Once you launch the application, the ‘ Home’ screen displays multiple options, such as ‘ Share Screen’, ‘ New Meeting’, ‘ Join a Meeting’, ‘ Schedule a Meeting’, etc. Compared to other collaboration tools, Zoom comes with a simpler interface.
